I'm at the Bazaar

Yes, I'm alive and well. I've just been too exhausted at the end of the day to share with you plus I forgot to bring my camera home with me on Friday.

Here are only a few shots of my Bowerbird Bazaar stand as many didn't turn out. It's been an amazing market and soooo busy! They had to shut the doors twice yesterday as full people capacity was reached.

I have sold out of so many things but still have plenty of goodies available for today so come on down Adelaide because everything is negotiable. I want to ship as little as possible back to Brissie. Must leave now so I'm at my stand before you are :)

The Big Relax

I landed in Adelaide today! It's been such lovely weather so I took a tram ride to the seaside suburb of Glenelg.

As a Queenslander, it seemed strange to me to see such a lovely beach so empty at the end of October. Too cold, too many sharks or both?

This is the famous Jetty Road where I had a delicious lunch of Salt & Pepper Squid because one should have seafood by the seaside.

But the best part of my day was finding myself in my own luxury hotel room, soaking in a relaxing bath and just waking up from the sweetest 3 hour nap ever! I did wake up at 3.30 am this morning to pack for the airport at 5.00 am.

I'm pleased to report that all 3 boxes of stock for the Bowerbird Bazaar stand have arrived safely and I'll be ready to meet you all.
Don't forget to mention that you are a Blog Follower or Facebook Fan for your 10% discount off all purchases at the Bazaar!

Fairy Entrance Doors

Regular readers will know how much I adore painted entrance doors so how could I not be smitten by these fairy sized ones?

Available in a variety of colours, Fairy Doors can be attached to any wall and once they are, fairies will know to use them to come in and out during the night.

The fairies are sometimes known to exchange notes and gifts with their children friends. You can purchase your Fairy Door from Rubyfish and LIKE Rubyfish on Facebook.

And in the Opposite Corner

The living room continues with more recycled furniture.

These cane chairs are quiet old and were first painted at least 10 years ago. Now they have been refreshed and new chair pad covers have been made. Cane may not be the best choice for the living room corner but will suffice for now.

Happy Pink and Navy French Checks hand-printed on washable white linen.

The little blue table was an $5 op shop purchase that I painted back here.

Now to do something about the bare walls.

The Romans have Landed

I can't tell you how excited I was to have our beautifully made curtains and roman blinds installed in our living room today.

To see updated professional images of this room, check out this blog post.

The curtain making was done by Janneale of Miraje Home and installed by Colin (as pictured below).

There is a certain satisfaction in seeing fabric that I have designed and screen-printed decorating our home. The wall colour is Taubman's "Tahnee Blue" if you're interested. I really like it with the black & white fabric.

Please excuse the poor quality of my images; it's not easy taking interior shots with sunlight streaming in. I will keep adding new photos as I finish off other projects in this room. Yes, I know I have to add cushions, lots of them!

If you like the fabric design, it's Iron Flowers hand-printed by Thea & Sami on 100% European, pre-shrunk linen.

I highly recommend Janneale's interior design services. Her lovely store Miraje Home in Cleveland also retails Thea & Sami homewares.

From Rust to Yellow

Our living room curtains are being installed tomorrow so I've been motivated to finish off little projects around the house this weekend.

I'm quite happy with how these metal side tables turned out considering we had them for so long and they were rusting away.

Just a little cleaning with steel wool, some priming and then a few fine coats of Dulux "Carnival Yellow" spray paint, suitable for metal.

I feel so good about upcycling and will be revealing more bits and pieces over the next few weeks. Now back to watching the Rugby Final. Go New Zealand and make Australasia proud!

Fabric Bundles for Bowerbirds

I'm grateful for a day off today. I've spent the week packing stock into boxes that have been sent off to Adelaide for the Bowerbird Bazaar next week.

I wasn't sure whether to include fabrics or not but since Facebook fans requested them and Elessa helped me, we did prepare dozens of bundles yesterday. It was a lot of work but there is a certain satisfaction in seeing all the colours and textures together.

The Ivy & Piper Design Workshop planned for today has been cancelled but I have the chance to finish some home projects instead. We're getting our living room curtains & blinds installed on Monday so that is my motivation. I really need deadlines to get things done, do you?

DEAL: Mention that you are a blog follower and you will receive 10% off any Thea & Sami purchase at Bowerbird. We will be at Stall 33. Hope to see you there!

Zippity Checked Purses

I just couldn't wait to share these beauties with you! The hand-printed French Checks zip purses are impeccably made by my very lovely and talented friend Alyssa Milton of Lyssy May.

I only have 2 samples of each of the 3 colourways shown (6 in total) and will be taking them with me to the Bowerbird Bazaar next week unless somebody claims them first.

They purses are fully lined with contrasting cotton fabric and have been scotch-guarded for extra protection. Limited edition, they are priced at $29 each.

Very Zed Art & Design

Over the years, I've had the pleasure of meeting some very talented locals through my studio classes and Selina Zwolsman is no exception.

Selina is an interior designer, artist, mosaicist and furniture designer as well as mum to two young children.

Wrought iron chair and gate designed by Selina.

I've seen Selina's art in real life and the photo really doesn't do the colours and textures justice. Visit the Very Zed Art & Design new website for more information and contact details. Selina is currently working on several new pieces so do keep checking for updates.

White Brisbane

I decided that I needed a white Brisbane City screen-printed art panel for our living room.

Since it's never worth screen-printing just one thing, we printed a whole table of them on natural linen yesterday. I have just started wholesaling these so you may see them popping up in some of our Brisbane stockists or you may purchase on-line.

Also available in black print, these make great Christmas gifts for Brisbanites that live elsewhere or as souveniers. As the canvas frame is not included, they are easy to post and I will be doing a tutorial soon to show you how easy it is to prepare for hanging.

Blue to Refresh

There was no Project Monday this week as I've had to prepare stock for shipping to Adelaide for the Bowerbird Bazaar.

Speaking of birds however, I did manage to get these 2 vintage needlepoints freshened up with blue framing. I used Sky Blue spray paint for both the frame on one and the cardboard mounting of the other new, white frame.

I thought I had a "before" shot but you can only see a snippet here of the old frame. Believe me, it was an ugly brown with gold trim.

It's amazing what colour can do. With my little collection of vintage needlepoints, I'm looking forward to learning how to create an cluster art wall this Saturday. Where you ask? I've decided to do Ivy & Piper's Interior Design Workshop.

I guess that means I won't be working in the studio this Saturday or the next when I'll be in Adelaide. I feel a little bit naughty but I'm sure you understand. The studio shop will be open this Friday if you wish to drop in.

Lunch in Daylesford Bags

That Lyssy May is so talented and she's done it again; created gorgeous new hand bags that is.

The Lunch in Daylesford tote bags are now available in black or red prints featuring Thea & Sami's classic Marguerite design, hand-printed on high quality European linen. Yes, each bag has the essential internal pocket and is fully-lined!

We are not offering these bags for wholesale so you can buy them directly from Lyssy May at the special price of $95. Can a girl ever have enough bags?

We Love Suckers

If you're looking for natural printed fabrics for teens or boys' rooms, you may like our new Tentacality Design, inspired by octopus tentacles; the suckers to be exact.

I think this one would look good as wall art too. I'm going to stretch it over an artist's canvas and show you once I do.

Tentacality is now available for purchase in a variety of colourways through our on-line store. Buy as little as a 1/4 metre (50 x 75 cm) to sew your own cushion or buy one ready-made.

We can print other colours if you like. Just ask, although minimums may apply for custom prints.

Have a lovely Sunday! Smiles all around for the sunny skies in Brisbane today.

Time Saving Winners

Many of you will appreciate precious time savers so imagine my delight when I discovered that I could get our new swing tags printed AND strung with twine & safety pins ready to go!

No more sitting hours in front of the TV or elsewhere tying knots through tiny pins. Admittedly, the studio juniors did enjoy doing so but too bad, they have enough to do like tagging dozens of newly screen-printed products.

The bonus with the new swing tags is that I didn't have to compromise on using recycled card stock or having natural twine which is in keeping with our natural and environmentally-friendly philosophy.

We had some of the cards made with larger drill holes and not strung so that we could easily thread Baker's Twine through them when packing our linen napkins.

I had the swing tags made and delivered all within 10 days from Bags & Tags. Great service Christine & team!

In Good Company

It's only 2 weeks until the Bowerbird Bazaar in Adelaide and I haven't even had time to think about it!

With such an impressive line up of Australian designer/makers exhibiting, I'm quite excited that Thea & Sami will be among good company such as:

Koush Design,

Gretel Girl who combines her drawing and crafting talents and

Katrina Freene who creates exquisite jewellery from recycled biscuit tins. Will I have time to do my Christmas shopping?

To plan your visit, you can now download the Bowerbird Bazaar Exhibitors Guide. Will I see you there?
